'Bloom' by Neko-me 'Bloom' by Neko-me
Wanted to try something absolutely different. The idea was to show emotions and convey the message without words. Hope you like it. Since this is my first comic any suggestions are welcome!

Thanx for the favs and comments!

Do not use it without my written permission!

Oh my. This is quite the quality work, nicely done, colored to perfection, the only thing is it's so sad, but that was the point, right? I believe, judging at how Apple Jack looks so young and Apple Bloom looks younger than she does in the show, that this is based off of the loss of their parents, correct? I doubt it's Big Macintosh, and it's not a Granny Smith apple to indicate it's Granny Smith who died. Really, the coloring is what takes the cake in this picture, very nicely done, very professionally done, as well. Good job, really.

This comic was absolutely amazing. This is my first critique so bare with me. The vision was clear and simple and had a beautiful message. It was simply a beautiful thing that I really liked and I think others would like it as well. You made a beautiful comic with a lot of thought, which I always like.

Originality, well, a few Applejack/Apple Bloom cry scenes, but this was very well-done. The scene setting was very interesting and it was very original with the darkening scenes and Applejack almost in depression, I can barely describe the originality of this. However, there have been a few delightful Applejack/Applebloom cry scenes as stated before, but this one didn't need words to describe the raw sadness and love in this comic.

Technique, god, it was so beautiful I couldn't describe it, your art style is unique and very lovely and stylish. Clear character format with a delightful twist of their manes, gosh, and I love that eyes you created, they are so unique and amazing. A small pallet of colours made a huge comic so unique, and those oranges and reds and creams and darker colours all were just what Applejack's kitchen would look like.

Impact, well, it was pretty good, and you left the viewers wondering, and that is always a good thing. The impact is very creative and I really think the message is clear for us, and that is important to get the message across and for readers to think about this through out their day. Why was Applejack crying? That question is haunting most people's mind, which is excellent.

Awesome work, please continue to create work for us, and comics.

I think that this comic captured the true sense of depression. Even Psychologists says that is impossible to give a full interpretation to its generic sense, but you have captured the essence of the moment. I suffer of a light stage of depression, but I can say to you that all the stages until she begins to cry are totally realistic.

You probably study Psychology or you are/have been depressed in your life. Don't get me wrong here, I was just guessing.
Anyways, this really reminds me how to cry when I need it.

Thank you

Thank you, I'm you realized the purpose of this short comic. And I both studied psychology (a little) and I suffer from depression as well. It was a really good experience to draw this one.

Aw ; u ; This reminds me of my sisters. I hate it when they see or hear me cry. The first time it happened, my little sister started crying, and she doesn't normally cry. The youngest of us found her and had to cheer her up.

Hasbro needs to make an episode showing either AJ's parents, or how they died.

Well you know that it is a sensitive topic, and since MLP:FIM is a children cartoon originally it is really hard to interpret death. Those shooting stars in 'Apple Family Reunion" was one of them.

These kinds of comics, the ones that don't use words to tell a story, are always one of the most beautiful and rewarding pieces of art when done right. This was definitely done right. It really resonates, and it really is beautiful. As Applejack gradually breaks down in tears... Man. Like I said, it resonates.

As for the whole "Why is Applejack crying?" thing, well, there's never really any single reason for the kind of sadness that is depicted in this piece. It's just... everything. That sounds vague and cliched, I know, but it's really true. Like, Applejack could be hit with one realization of "Wow everything sucks" and then she'd just get dragged deeper and deeper and feel heavier and heavier because every time you deal with one problem another one comes up and any logical bright sides are completely irrelevant when you start crying and there's really no way to snap out of it once you get like that.

Unless the right intruder comes along, of course.

I agree. Sometimes you don't need words to convey the message. When you are depressed the smallest think can trigger sadness. And yes, it's good if there is someone on your side in those times.

Ok, what I understood: Applejack is going to eat (breakfast, meal, you make that up, that's why her tongue is sticking out) then she is all like "all what we got is apples... we have no money, we can't buy a decent meal, we've got nothing..." then she starts crying, lost in the sadness, thinking nothing specific. Then Applebloom comes in. She doesn't need to say anything, just the fact that she's there is enough to make AJ happy "...but I've got my family, I've got my sister, my brother and Granny, and that's all I need... we work hard, but at least we work together"

P.D: this didn't make me cry, but my face was like... I don't know, when you want to cry but tears just won't come out. I think this comic evokes tears (and facehurts) of both sadness, but more prominently of happiness, when you understand that Applejack's life is very VERY tough, but she's always happy when she's around her friends, because of that very same reason: because she got friends and a family to cheer her up when she falls

I love how, at the end, the colors have not only come back, but are brighter than ever. The world is always clearer and brighter after a storm and I believe that this visual comic illustrates that well.
Well done.
